One of the coolest things at the library is their passes to museums in NYC. You put down a cash deposit of $40 (returned to you once you return the pass) and receive a pass to the American Museum of Natural History (think Night at the Museum), the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, the Museum of the City of New York, the Children's Museum of Manhattan, Guggenheim Museum, or El Museo del Barrio. You reserve a pass at the main library or on the phone. You can pick up passes as early as 12 noon the day before your trip but must drop them off by 11 am the day after (if you want to avoid a $10 a day fee that is). You must live or work in Kearny and have a valid library card in good standing. Only adults can reserve the pass.
If your family is anything like ours then trips to NYC typically consist of walking around and not buying anything (since everything is so expensive there). This is a great way to see new parts of the city without having to pay extra for it. I highly recommend it!
